A derivatives enabled account is used primarily to trade derivatives products offered by Gemini Foundation. 

Customers cannot deposit or withdraw assets externally from a derivatives enabled account and must first open an exchange account with Gemini and then transfer assets to and from their derivatives account. 

Note that Customers cannot trade derivatives from their exchange account, however, it is possible to execute spot trades from their derivatives account. These spot transactions are executed on the spot exchange operated by Gemini Trust Company LLC.
