Bitcoin Cash, a fork of the Bitcoin network, was recently forked into two distinct networks and blockchains: Bitcoin ABC (aka “Adjustable Blocksize Cap”) and Bitcoin SV (aka “Satoshi’s Vision”).
At this time we will only be providing support for the Bitcoin ABC network and we will be referring to it as Bitcoin Cash with ticker: BCH. We have added replay protection to all BCH withdrawals from the Gemini platform to ensure transactions are only valid on the Bitcoin ABC blockchain, and any cryptocurrency sent to a Gemini deposit address from the Bitcoin SV blockchain will be invalid and irrecoverable.
Note for EU & EEA Customers: As of the 30th of December 2024 for EU & EEA customers, only transfers of ERC-20 tokens, ETH, and BTC are supported on Gemini. Whilst you can still freely trade and hold these unsupported tokens within Gemini, we will be removing the unsupported tokens from deposit and withdrawal options, with the exception of transfers to and from a self-hosted wallet. For more information see here.
Note for Singapore Customers: Singapore customers can only withdraw crypto to TRUST exchanges or self-hosted wallets that they own and control. Withdrawals are limited to cryptocurrencies on Bitcoin or Bitcoin Fork networks (e.g., Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin) or the Ethereum/ERC20 blockchain. Read about the Singapore Travel Rule Requirements here.
Note for UK Customers: As of 17th November 2023 for UK customers, only transfers of ERC-20 tokens, ETH, and BTC are supported on Gemini. Whilst you can still freely trade and hold these unsupported tokens within Gemini, we will be removing the unsupported tokens from deposit and withdrawal options, with the exception of transfers to and from a self-hosted wallet.
