How do I link my bank account to be able to do direct bank transfers?
You can link your bank account by navigating to the ‘Account’ icon in the top right hand corner, and 'Manage Payment Methods' page. Then click “Bank account instantly via Plaid”, which will then prompt you to link your bank account through Plaid.
How do I initiate a direct bank transfer?
Log into your Gemini account on your desktop or on the mobile app. Select ‘Deposit’, choose GBP as the deposit currency, and select ‘Direct Bank Transfer’ as your transfer method.
I have linked a bank account but it is not listed as eligible for direct bank transfers?
Not all bank accounts are eligible for direct bank transfers. You can still send us a ‘Manual bank transfer’ if your bank account is not eligible for direct bank transfers. The supported payment methods include CHAPS and SWIFT.
In which countries are direct bank transfers available?
Direct Bank Transfer is only available to users located in the United Kingdom (UK) at the moment and is supported for certain UK based banks and financial institutions. We are working on adding support for direct bank transfers for users and banks in other countries.
Which currencies am I able to use direct bank transfers with?
Direct Bank Transfer is available for GBP deposits only in the United Kingdom (UK).
How do I remove my linked bank account from Gemini?
You can remove your linked bank account by navigating to the ‘Account’ icon in the top right hand corner, and 'Manage Payment Methods' page. Then select the linked bank account you want to remove from Plaid, and click the the button to ‘Remove’ your account.
Once I link my bank account to use it for direct bank transfers, what else can I use it for?
Once you’ve linked your bank account for direct bank transfers, you can use that bank account for:
- Direct bank transfers
- Regular bank transfers to your Gemini account balance (fiat deposits)
- Regular bank transfers from your Gemini account balance (fiat withdrawals)
Are there any fees for using direct bank transfers?
No fees are charged for using direct bank transfer at this time.
Can I withdraw fiat from my Gemini account to the bank account I use for direct bank transfers?
You can withdraw funds from your Gemini account to the bank account you use for direct bank transfers. The withdrawal is processed via regular bank transfers. For more information on fiat withdrawals, please see here.
How long does it take for funds sent via direct bank transfer to be deposited into my Gemini account?
These funds are usually processed and credited to your account in minutes. However, these timelines can vary depending on your bank.

Limits and Minimums
There is a per transaction limit of 25,000 GBP and a minimum deposit amount of 10 GBP through direct bank transfer. Keep in mind that these are Gemini limits and that your bank limits may vary from these.
I already linked my bank account via Plaid - will it automatically be enabled for direct bank transfers?
If your already-linked bank account is enabled for direct bank transfers automatically, you’ll see on the 'Manage Payment Methods'page that the bank account will be listed as ‘Available for Direct Bank Transfers’.
Depending on when you linked your bank account, you may need to re-link it in order to enable direct bank transfers. To do so, simply remove the bank account on the 'Manage Payment Methods' page, and select ‘Add another method’ and use Plaid to link that bank account. If your bank supports direct bank transfers, it will now be shown in the list when placing a deposit or withdrawal and asked to ‘Select your institution’.
