What is an APP scam?
APP (Authorised Push Payment) scams involve authorised transactions where criminals deceive individuals into willingly transferring funds to accounts that the fraudsters control. These scams often appear as legitimate requests or lucrative opportunities, urging immediate financial action.
Tips for avoiding scams:
Check the sender
When you receive an email from Gemini, look closely at the sender’s email address. Make sure it was sent from a “gemini.com” URL. For reference, Gemini sends transactional emails from no-reply@em.gemini.com and marketing emails from hello@news.gemini.com”
We will never text you
Gemini will only call customers in special cases upon request and after coordinating a date and time via email correspondence. We will never text you, so please do not engage with texts, even if the caller ID shows Gemini as the sender.
Never share personal information or login information
Gemini customer support associates will never ask you to share personal or login information, including usernames, passwords, or two-factor authentication (2FA) codes, nor will they ask you to forward an email or share codes of any kind.
Check the URL
When logging in to your Gemini account, take a close look at the website URL to ensure that it is a “gemini.com” URL. Bookmark https://exchange.gemini.com/signin and always use the bookmark when logging in to your account.

- The scam was reported over 13 months after the final payment of the scam was made.
- The reimbursement claim has been submitted fraudulently.
- The payment was not made into and out of an account in the UK.
