- Password reset (72 hour hold)
- New Authy device detected (72 hour hold)
- Your account is not fully verified (action required)

Please note: this article covers withdrawing your crypto to an external digital asset address, external exchange, or wallet. If you are looking for help withdrawing fiat from Gemini to your bank account, please click here.
Our system is able to recognize changes in a point of entry, such as a new browser being used, a VPN, a new IP address or having recently cleared your cache or cookies. As a precaution, a withdrawal hold will automatically be placed on the account from this new point of entry.
To authorize this newly detected computer or laptop for withdrawals, here are the steps to authorizing your device set up:
-
Check your email inbox for the email with the subject line: We're making sure it's you!
-
In this email, you will need to click on the link that is provided from the same device and browser (if applicable) in order to authorize the device as a trusted source and re-enable withdrawals.
If you are receiving a message after doing so saying Further verification required, please try the following steps:
- Open the new device email that was sent to you and copy the verification link.
- Open your internet browser separately.
- Paste the link into the browser and hit enter.
To authorize this newly detected mobile device, here are the steps to authorizing your device set up:
- Open your mobile browser (NOT the email app) to your inbox (i.e. gmail.com, outlook.com)
- Find the email with the subject line: "We're making sure it's you!"
- Click the verification link in the email
Again, this should register as from the same device used when signing into your Gemini account.
If you recently made a buy order using a Bank Transfer (ACH), the funds are pre-credited into your Gemini account so you can trade at our discretion but will not be available for withdrawal until the ACH deposit fully clears. All ACH deposits take four to five business days to clear and the withdrawal hold will be active for the duration that the funds are in transit.
Please note, the funds may have left your bank account but this does not indicate that they have reached your Gemini account.
Note: Business days do not include weekends and federal US holidays. Any transfer initiated on a non-business day will start processing on the next business day.
You can check your Account Balance page for any holds on your account resulting from pending ACH transfers. If you have a pending ACH transfer that has not yet reached us, you will see a note next to your USD balance that says "(#) Holds Pending”. You can hover over this text to view the details of the transfer.
If you recently made a buy order using a Debit card, a 24 hour withdrawal hold is placed on your account. This includes Debit card payments made using Apple Pay and Google Pay. The withdrawal hold will be active for the duration that the funds are in transit.
Please note, the funds may have left your bank account but this does not indicate that they have reached your Gemini account. You can check your Account Balance page for any holds on your account resulting from pending transfers.
If your account is not fully verified, you will need to complete registration in order to be able to withdraw your funds. You can view our registration requirements here.
OPEN SELL LIMIT ORDER
If you have an open sell limit order, you will need to cancel it in order to be able to withdraw your crypto.
Note for UK customers: To ensure compliance with the UK Travel Rule, from 17th November 2023, Gemini will only permit outbound transfers to other registered TRUST VASPs and self-hosted wallets. In addition, only transfers of ERC-20 tokens, ETH, and BTC will be supported, with the exception of transfers to and from a self-hosted wallet. Find out more here.
