Gemini is adding support for RLUSD on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). RLUSD is already supported natively on Ethereum, and expanding to XRPL strengthens Gemini’s multichain stablecoin strategy while fulfilling our commitment to Ripple to support RLUSD and XRP across networks.
Can I send XRP or RLUSD on XRPL directly to another Gemini customer?
No. Gemini customers cannot send XRP or RLUSD on XRPL directly to another Gemini customer. This is due to Gemini’s memo-based deposit infrastructure on XRPL.
Do I need to include a memo when whitelisting an XRPL withdrawal address?
Yes. All addresses require a memo entry during the whitelisting process. If the destination is an externally owned account (EOA) that does not require a memo, customers must enter: Memo value: “0”
Do I need to activate my XRPL withdrawal destination before withdrawing RLUSD?
Yes. A withdrawal destination on XRPL must be activated before it can receive RLUSD.
Activation requires a minimum deposit of 1 XRP to the destination address.
What is a trust line, and why do I need one?
On XRPL, tokens like RLUSD require the receiving wallet to establish a trust line for the specific asset.
Customers must set up a trust line with their receiving wallet before sending or withdrawing RLUSD on XRPL.
