Gemini has transitioned customers in Australia to Gemini Intergalactic Australia, Pty Ltd, an entity registered as a digital currency exchange service provider in Australia.
From 18 September - 6 November 2025, all Gemini accounts for Australian users will be moved from Gemini Trust Company, LLC to Gemini Intergalactic Australia, Pty Ltd.
For more information, please refer to the FAQs below:
Why is Gemini making this switch?
Gemini Intergalactic Australia, Pty Ltd is a locally registered entity in Australia, registered as a digital currency exchange service provider with AUSTRAC under the AML/CTF Act 2006 (Cth). As part of our efforts to enhance compliance, localisation, and transparency, all Australian customer accounts are being transitioned to this entity.
What does this mean for me as a customer?
This simply means your account is now managed by Gemini Intergalactic Australia, Pty Ltd, rather than Gemini Trust Company, LLC. Your platform access, account history, balances, and trading capabilities remain unchanged.
When will the transition take place?
The transition will take place from 18 September - 6 November, 2025. After which, all Australia based accounts will be managed under Gemini Intergalactic Australia, Pty Ltd.
What actions do I need to take?
Please note the following steps to take prior to the migration:
- If you hold a fiat balance in any currency other than AUD (e.g. CAD, EUR, GBP, SGD, USD), please convert it to a supported crypto or withdraw your non-AUD funds.
- Cancel all open limit orders and recurring buys placed using non-AUD balances.
- Gemini will also no longer support staking for Australian customers. If you currently hold staked assets, please log in and manually unstake them.
Any non-AUD balances not converted or withdrawn by this deadline will be automatically converted to AUD at the prevailing exchange rate, and an administrative fee will apply. Staked assets not manually unstaked by the deadline will be automatically unstaked and returned to your Gemini account.
Please note the following steps to take after the migration
- You will be prompted to accept the updated User Agreement for Gemini Intergalactic Australia, Pty Ltd upon login.
- Use the updated deposit instructions if you wish to deposit AUD into Gemini.
- To view the updated deposit instructions, navigate to “Deposit Cash” in your Gemini account after accepting the new terms. Transfers sent using outdated details and non- AUD currencies will be returned. This change applies only to Bank Transfers. No action is required if you use other payment methods such as Debit Cards.
- Recurring orders may have been cancelled as part of the transition. Please review and place new recurring buys if needed.
Will I lose access to my account or need to re-register?
No. Your existing login credentials and account setup remain unchanged. However, you’ll need to accept the new terms to continue using Gemini post-transition.
Is staking still available for Australian customers?
No. Staking on Gemini is no longer available for Australian customers.
Does this have any impact on my Gemini CustodyⓇ account?
Your Gemini Custody® account will be transitioned to Gemini Intergalactic Australia, Pty Ltd. Please note that there are no changes to the terms and conditions of your existing Custody Agreement as a result of this migration. You will continue to be able to view and manage all of your assets seamlessly through your Gemini account.
What happens to my existing agreement with Gemini Trust Company?
Your existing agreement with Gemini Trust Company, LLC will be superseded by your new agreement with Gemini Intergalactic Australia, Pty Ltd - governed by Australian regulations and local terms.
Where can I find the new user agreement?
You can view the updated user agreement here:
What happens if I don’t wish to accept the new user agreement?
If you do not accept the new agreement, you will not be able to access your Gemini account. If you choose not to accept these terms and would like to close your account, please contact our support team for assistance.
Does this affect how my assets are insured on Gemini?
No. Our Digital Asset Insurance will remain unchanged on Gemini.
How will this affect my tax obligations?
Gemini does not provide legal, tax, or investment advice. We kindly request that you consult your tax advisor to determine your personal tax reporting requirements related to your activity on the Gemini exchange.
Will my payment methods be affected?
Yes. After the transition:
- Please login to your account to obtain your new AUD deposit instructions. Transfers made to old instructions (listing Gemini Trust Company, LLC as the beneficiary) will be returned to sender.
- Gemini will only support AUD for fiat deposits and withdrawals going forward.
- Other fiat currencies (e.g. CAD, EUR, GBP, SGD and USD) will no longer be supported for AU users.
- Any previously linked debit cards in non-AUD currencies will be removed. Debit cards added in AUD will remain unaffected.
I’m logged in but not seeing any prompt to accept the updated terms. Why?
The prompt to accept the updated Terms and Conditions will appear only after your account has been migrated. You can review and accept the Terms and Conditions on the web interface. If you're using the mobile app, please ensure it's updated to the latest version:
Note for iOS users: Updates may not always show in “Available Updates.” To check manually, search for the Gemini app in the App Store. If an update is available, the “Open” button will appear as “Update.”
If you believe your migrated account is not displaying the updated Terms and Conditions, please reach out to the customer support team.
