Flexa is a payments network, built using cryptocurrencies, that brings buyers and sellers closer together in order to cut processing cost, eliminate fraud, and preserve your privacy.
When you first set up Gemini Pay™ on the Gemini mobile app we are required to provide your full name, date of birth, email address, and state of residence to Flexa. This information is shared with Flexa to enable you to shop at retail stores on the Flexa network. Your personal information will be encrypted and sent to Flexa via a secure connection.
Because Flexa is considered a money services business, there are certain steps that Gemini must take in order to ensure that neither our network nor Flexa’s network is used for money laundering or terrorist financing. As part of that process, we are legally required to compare your full name, date of birth, and state residence against lists provided by the Office of Foreign Assets Control ("OFAC"), the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other government entities.
This weekly limit applies across all flexcodes you can generate on Gemini Pay™, across all merchants, and resets to zero every Friday afternoon.
If you reach your weekly limit while making a purchase at a retailer’s store, you'll be asked to cover the remaining purchase amount with an alternative form of payment, such as credit card or cash
After that, you won't be able to make any additional purchases with Gemini Pay™ until your limit resets on Friday afternoon.
At the time of this writing, Gemini Pay™ does not have the ability for our users to increase their weekly spend limit. Flexa will soon introduce the ability for you to upgrade the weekly limit on your account by providing additional documentation of your identity.
If you would like to know when we release an update to Gemini Pay™ that allows you to increase your weekly spend limit, please reach out to our support team and we'll keep you informed.
Flexa is considered a money services business, which means that they are required to take special precautions in order to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
As a result, Gemini Pay™ currently enables you to spend up to $250 per account per week (across all merchants), after we receive and verify your full name, date of birth, email address, and the state or territory in which you reside.
As the Flexa network builds more support for more app, services, and more places to pay, we'll always prioritize enabling spending while requiring the minimum amount of personal information.
If you'd like to learn more about the weekly limit, you can email email@example.com.
Gemini Pay™ works in retail stores, not online. The list of merchants in the Gemini app on the “Pay” tab shows the list of all available merchants in your area. More merchants are added frequently as the Flexa network continues to expand.
When you are in line to checkout at the merchant’s register, tap to select your merchant to create your flexcode. Have this screen with the flexcode open when you approach the cashier.
Your flexcode is valid for 10 minutes. If you happen to be standing in line to checkout and the code screen disappears, just tap the merchant icon again from the merchant list to regenerate your flexcode.
If you encounter any difficulty scanning your flexcode, try asking the cashier to scan the code as a gift card. They may ask you to enter the series of numbers below the flexcode (next to the “key” icon).
Please contact the retailer where you purchased the item to process any returns or exchanges.
Gemini Pay™ currently can only be used at merchants in the contiguous United States. In addition, Gemini Pay™ will only display in the Gemini mobile app to United States residents.
