Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a method of confirming a user's claimed identity by using a combination of two different factors: something they know, and something they have.
2FA at Gemini is powered by the Authy 2FA API. This means you use the free Authy app to get your 2FA token and login to Gemini.
To enable 2FA with Gemini, start by Installing Authy on your device by searching for it in your device's app store and then continuing with this guide.
How do I enable the 2FA Token?
- Open the Authy app. You will find the Gemini token already there if you have entered your name and email during Gemini account setup.
- Next, view your Authy token number for Gemini.
- Now, enter that number into the field provided on Gemini.
Note: Authy does not send you an SMS message containing the code for Gemini; the code is retrieved from the Authy app directly.
It is an important security measure to disable Authy multi-device once you are set up. Please reference this article with step by step instructions for how to do that.
That's it! You now have two-factor authentication protection for your Gemini account.
